Jim was born and raised in the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania suburbs. He graduated college in Ohio and moved to start his first job in the Chicagoland area. Although his degree in was in Accounting, Jim gravitated to the art world in Chicago, where he enjoyed a career in sales and marketing of fine art allowing him to travel the country! He enjoyed his time immensely, but after 6 years of artful bliss, he entered the Financial Services marketplace, working for the large insurance companies: Prudential and MetLife.
Jim has always gravitated towards helping individuals successfully retire, and he thought that he would feel fulfilled working with these companies. However, both organizations made monumental changes during his tenures, causing a disruption of success for employees but more importantly a disruption of service to his customers. These experiences gave Jim the expertise and confidence needed to grow and to establish himself as an Independent Retirement Consultant.
Jim started his own Retirement Planning business in January of 2016. His business: The Retirement Plan Team, focused on creating sustainable processes to help Business Owners, HR Decision Makers and Governmental Organization Leaders run and manage Retirement Plans effectively. His organization also specializes in providing Retirement Income Planning and Wealth Management Services for individuals.
Our business is simple, we help people save and plan for retirement.
Our services section describes the three areas we help people:
We provide Retirement Plan Sales and Service for employer groups of all sizes, for both new start-up plans and companies with established plans. Our mission is to help companies and employees create a sound financial future. By employing smart, directed investment and plan administration strategies, we partner with you to create custom solutions that enrich and enhance the life of your company and your employees, now and in the future.
Jim participates as a consultant and/or advisor on Defined Contribution Retirement 401(k), 403(b) ERISA and Non-ERISA, 401(a), and 457(b) plans. In short, the company manages the responsibilities of the retirement plan with you and advises you on "what do I do now" ongoing. The new DOL and soon to be SEC rules place an increased focus for plan sponsors and Advisors like Jim to a better job with overseeing a retirement plan. It is a joint (Plan Sponsor + Advisor) responsibility to manage service providers, be thoughtful with managing cost, uncover fiduciary liabilities and develop better participant outcomes.
In order to comply with "all of this" it is imperative to own a process that monitors these items of importance on a consistent basis and documents this ongoing. The process we adopted is a certified and proven strategic solution that fulfills our Advisor’s responsibilities, but more importantly it covers your responsibility, the Plan Sponsors. This solution is called “RPAG.” The Retirement Plan Advisor Group is an exclusive member's only independent organization that provides Retirement Plan Consultants and Advisors with technology and solutions to be first-in-class. Our investment in this organization is substantial, but the outcome is extraordinary.
Jim is a father, friend, an avid runner and adventurist, and volunteer. His professional goal is simple: "I help people prepare and succeed in retirement."
